A gentle westerly airflow lies over the country tonight with a few fronts in the mix. mainly out west. As usual we can expect some rain on the West Coast of the South Island and showers gradually moving onto the west of the North Island. Out east conditions are mainly dry although showers or some rain about Canterbury will clear this evening.

Auckland & Northland
Cloudy areas with light winds tending north to northwest, chance of a shower by dawn.
Low tonight: 9-10

Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with light winds.
Low tonight: 8-9

Central North Island & Waikato
Mostly cloudy skies with light winds.
Lows tonight: 4-7

Eastern North Island
High cloud with light winds, northerly breezes about Wairarapa.
Low tonight: 6-7

Western North Island
Mainly cloudy with the odd shower about northern Taranaki and Kapiti spreading elsewhere overnight. Northerlies.
Low tonight: 8-10

Wellington
Cloudy with the odd shower, dry spells too. Breezy northerlies.
Low tonight: 10

Nelson
Scattered rain easing overnight, possibly clearing. Northerlies ease.
Lows tonight: 6-7

Marlborough
Cloudy areas with some brief rain at times, especially about the Sounds. North to northwest winds.
Low tonight: 6-7

Canterbury
Rain or showers clearing this evening then skies becoming clear overnight. Light winds tend west to northwest inland.
Low tonight: 3

West Coast
Rain or showers with northeasterly winds.
Low tonight: 7

Southland & Central Otago
High cloud with a few spots of rain possible this evening, especially about Central Otago. High cloud then clearing overnight. Light winds.
Lows tonight: 2-4
