Tuesday Newsfeed: High pressure increases, westerlies do too

High pressure is drifting towards the North Island and the more it moves in the more it pushes away the wet weather from recent low pressure.

However, at the same time, this more northern placement of the high pressure zone means westerly winds will kick in for the South Island on Tuesday and spread more nationwide on Wednesday. They won’t be overly strong but will help keep eastern areas sunnier and warmer whilst western areas have a bit more cloud and maybe the odd isolated shower (track on rain radar this week if rain matters a lot to you).
