I think that boats in the marina should be fine the surges were low but constant for a few hours all normal here now.

We watched the Warkworth town basin go from pretty low and flowing out, to near full tide height with a strong in-flowing current in about 10 minutes at midday.

Significant wave surge at Tutukaka marina. One vessel broke it’s mooring & had to be towed out to a nearby bay. Other moored boats were nosing down into the water & pulling at their ropes. A few power boats seemed to be struggling against the surge as they were trying to navigate the channel out of the marina. Very brown, bubbling water raised the water level by more than a metre at the boat ramp. One vehicle had to be removed quickly before being overwhelmed by the tide (small, attached trailer completely submerged).

Since 8.30 am the inlet has had about 5 in and out surges each lasting about 30 mins. We are too high above the water (about 50 Metres) to be able to do a photo and the waves are fairly small but the currents each direction are very fast moving.
Should be interesting to see how long this keeps up.
