Tropics come to Auckland, northern NZ

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The tropics have come to Auckland and northern New Zealand bringing heat and humidity says WeatherWatch.co.nz.

In Auckland this hour it’s 26 degrees with 60% humidity – creating a feels like temperature of 32 degrees.  But if you think today is muggy, Monday might be even worse.

The latest data shows warmer air is on the way, packed with humidity.  Temperatures in Auckland may reach 27 degrees tomorrow if the sun comes out – but even if it doesn’t, humidity will be about 20% higher, so it will feel hotter.

Temperatures for sleeping will be much higher across northern New Zealand tomorrow night too.  WeatherWatch.co.nz predicts that Northland Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty will hover around 18 to 20 degrees overnight Monday/Tuesday morning with very high humidity.

So are we going to get some rain in Auckland this week? The maps are looking quite promising at the moment, what do you think?

We expect some… but it will be patchy again.  Some areas may get up to 20mm though.
