Tropical storm heading to Hawaii (+map)

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It may not sound scary but “Flossie” is the name of the latest tropical storm in the Northern Hemisphere Pacific Ocean.

Flossie is not a hurricane and will unliklely strengthen into one, instead it is classsed as a tropical storm.  In New Zealand standards it would be about a category 1 tropical cyclone.

Flossie is heading towards Hawaii and is expected to weaken into a tropical depression as it passes near Honolulu in the coming days.
