UPDATED 2:40pm — If you’re heading out trick or treating later today will the wicked weather cast an evil spell over you?
A few frightening sinister showers will shadow the northern and eastern North Island – a shower may spook you from the sky without warning anywhere from terrifying Taupo to ghostly Gisborne to bad Bay of Plenty and up to nasty Northland and awful Auckland across this afternoon &/or evening.
In fact some terrifying thunderstorms and horrific hail have already bombarded some parts of west and north Auckland today and more may be coming in South Auckland and Eastern Northland – it’s not safe to be outdoors if you can hear thunder, so hopefully these big thunderstorms that have developed will fade away before you’re ready to set out – but please check our latest forecasts and news updates before you do. Remember – if thunder roars, stay indoors!
These upper/eastern North Island showers are very isolated but may be hauntingly heavy – and being isolated means they’ll be well hidden, so for the most part it should be devlishly dry, but keep an eye over your shoulder as you never know if one of these big showers will jump out and go “BOO!”
West of nasty Nelson and towards ghoulish Greymouth there may also be a haunting sight of towering late afternoon clouds, threatening to strike you with a wickedly wet downpour.
But, for the most part, things will be eerily calm…just a few creepy clouds into the late afternoon and early evening.
So apart from a few people in the north, Halloween’s weather looks as boring as hell for most regions…
The Weathermap.co.nz shower risk for 4pm to 8pm today showers where the downpours may be – but most main centres look dry.
– Have a safe & fun evening!
