Morning cloud about Northland through to the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty breaks away to sunny areas, East to Nor’East winds by afternoon. Mostly sunny elsewhere throughout the North Island with westerly breezes in the west, northerly winds for Wellington by midday and northeasterly winds along the east coast. Morning cloud about the east coast breaks to mostly sunny conditions.

The South Island has cloudy areas in the west with northwesterly winds, mostly sunny from Nelson down through the east coast with east to northeasterly winds. Northeasterlies becoming a little breezy this afternoon along the east coast.

Otago and Southland are mostly sunny with some developing high cloud, northwesterly winds gradually build not breaking through to coastal Otago till evening.

In the evening and overnight northwesterly winds become strong about Southland and inland eastern parts of the South Island.
