Here’s what is making the weather headlines today….
GOOD WEATHER CONTINUES IN THE NORTH AND EAST
Today we have more good weather to come for the upper North Island and eastern regions, temperatures reaching into the mid to late teens with plenty of sun. This good weather continues again on Friday but the upper North Island starts to see a little cloud with a few light showers in the east, rain moves into Northland overnight.
This weekend rain pushes down from the north, getting into the upper South Island later on Sunday with a chance of heavy falls around the Nelson / Marlborough regions.
The precipitation percentage of normal map below shows how there may be some heavy rain coming up for the top of the South Island later on Sunday and into Monday. Some reasonable rain looks to move down into Canterbury on Monday also, more so Banks Peninsula northwards.

INSTABILITY NEXT WEEK
There still looks to be a chance of instability lingering over the North Island from Monday through to Wednesday next week thanks to a broad area of low pressure, this means isolated heavy showers and a chance of thunder in the afternoons.
Keep an eye on our thunderstorm page from Sunday.
For more details on the weather coming up for this afternoon, tomorrow and this weekend please tune into our daily video presented by Philip Duncan, video up on this website around midday.
