A similar pattern today as to what occurred yesterday, settled and frosty for the South Island thanks to high pressure. Southeasterlies for the North Island today with showers in the east, drier and sunnier weather out west although eastern Northland picks up a few showers.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud for Northland and perhaps eastern coastal areas at times, elsewhere is sunnier. Eastern Northland has the odd shower. Southeasterlies, strong in the east.
Highs: 14-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny, some cloud for the Central North Island with the chance of a shower in the east. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-16

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with showers, more so for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne, Wairarapa is a little drier but has the risk of a shower. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Wellington

Partly cloudy, light southeasterlies.
Highs: 14-15

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, some cloud for Marlborough from midday. Light winds.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury

Mist or fog morning and night, mostly sunny otherwise, there may be some coastal cloud for areas Banks Peninsula northwards during the day, cloud thickens later in the evening. Light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 6-12

West Coast

Sunny, mist or fog for inland Buller morning and again overnight. Light winds.
Highs: 11-14

Southland & Otago
Morning mist or fog then mostly sunny, there may be areas of coastal cloud for Southland and the Catlins. Light winds.
Highs: 7-10
