Plenty of high pressure brings mainly settled weather today, a few showers for eastern regions though. Easterly quarter winds build for the upper North Island with rain moving in north of Auckland later this evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy, risk of a shower. Showers more likely from afternoon with southeasterlies freshening. Late afternoon or evening rain moves in north of Auckland, becoming heavy.
Highs: 20-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud then increasing sun, southeasterly winds, gusty about the coast.
Highs: 14-23

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with showers, clearing around midday for Wairarapa then in the evening further north. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Wellington

Any morning showers clear then sunny spells break through. Southeasterly winds, strong through Cook Strait.
Highs: 14-17

Marlborough & Nelson

Nelson is sunny, Marlborough has partly cloudy skies. East to southeasterly winds, strong about the Sounds and Golden Bay. Afternoon north to northeasterly winds for Nelson.
Highs: 16-21

Canterbury

Morning showers then sunny spells break through in the afternoon as southeasterlies tend northeast.
Highs: 14-18

West Coast

Sunny. Southeasterly winds may tend onshore in the afternoon for a time.
Highs: 21-24

Southland & Otago
Sunny for Southland, Otago has morning cloud then mostly sunny. East to northeasterly winds, northeasterlies a little fresh for coastal Otago from afternoon.
Highs: 15-21
