An anticyclone is centered to the west of the North Island today spreading a light westerly airflow over the country. Expect cloudy areas and the odd shower at times in the west, drier weather out east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato
A mix of sunny and cloudy spells with west to southwest breezes. A few light showers possible at times especially in the west.
Highs: 15-17

Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with light westerly breezes, frosty inland to start.
Highs: 11-17

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island
Cloudy periods, chance of  shower then mainly dry for the rest of the day. Westerly breezes.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington
Sunny with northerly breezes.
Highs: 12-13

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds, morning frosts in sheltered areas.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 13-14

West Coast
Fairly cloudy with light westerlies, there may be morning sunny spells. The odd drizzle patch at times mainly from evening.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago
Sunny with some increasing high cloud. Light winds about coastal Otago, northwest breezes elsewhere.
Highs: 11-15
