Most of the country can expect a dry day with light winds, however a rain band hovering over Auckland looks likely to deliver heavy falls to some parts of the upper North Island. In the evening a frontal system also hits the far south of the South Island bringing cold southerlies and rain, also some snow to 600m before lowering to 400m for a time overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Morning rain clears Northland to cloudy periods and westerlies, the risk of the odd shower remains. For Auckland and Bay Of Plenty expect rain which clears at night, heavy falls possible about Auckland, northeasterlies. Cloudy for the Waikato with light winds, expect the odd shower or period of rain developing during the morning then clearing at night. A mix of sunny spells and some cloud for the CNI with light winds.

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds. Some cloud about Gisborne however with light northerlies there.
Highs: 19-20

Wellington & Western North Island
Sunny with some cloud at times, northwest breezes brisk in the afternoon about the Capital.
High: 16-18

Nelson
Sunny with light winds which may tend northwest in the afternoon, overnight cloud moves in.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough
Sunny with northwest breezes from midday, late evening high cloud.
Highs: 19-20

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds tending northwest inland, northwesterlies may briefly reach the coast for a time in the afternoon. Some evening high cloud. Overnight expect a cold southwest change with showers, snow lowers to 700m
High: 16-17

West Coast
Cloudy about Fiordland with drizzle patches. Sunny spells further north in the morning however cloud increases in the afternoon. There is the chance of some evening drizzle north of Fiordland.
Highs: 13-16

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud thickening from afternoon, light winds about coastal Otago. Northwest breezes for Southland and inland areas. In the evening winds change cold southerly with some rain, snow to 600m lowers to 400m overnight then clearing the next morning.
Highs: 11-15
