Weather settled and sunny for most today under an anticyclone although expect cloudy areas to start this morning north of Canterbury along the South Island’s east coast. Skies will be fairly cloudy for the North Island’s east coast all day and even the chance of the odd shower there at times too.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Mostly sunny skies with light winds and easterly breezes from afternoon. The odd area of cloud on eastern coastlines from midday.
Highs: 24-27

East of the North Island
Cloudy periods with easterly breezes, chance of the odd shower. A few brief sunny spells may make an appearance at times too.
Highs: 21-23
 
Western North Island
Sunny with some cloud and southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 23-25
 
Wellington
Morning cloud slowly breaks away to become clear and sunny in the afternoon, southeasterly breezes tend northeast by evening.

Marlborough, Nelson
Mostly sunny weather after any morning cloud clears, east to northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 21-23
 
Canterbury
Morning cloud clears to mostly sunny weather by midday, northeasterlies pick up along the coastline in the afternoon then ease later in the evening.

West Coast
Sunny areas and some cloud with light northwesterly breezes.
Highs: 19
 
Southland & Otago
Sunny and clear skies after a cold start. Light winds tending northeasterly about the Otago coastline after midday, westerlies develop about the Southland coastline.
