Sunny weather for most again today as an anticyclone lies over the country. Some cloud is likely to affect Fiordland, Gisborne, eastern Northland and many other places in the morning. Along Northland’s east coast and about Gisborne there may even be the odd shower.

Upper North Island

Mostly sunny and clear weather with light winds after morning cloud breaks up, sea breezes developing about coastal areas. Northland will see southeasterly breezes with cloudy areas, there is also the chance of the odd shower about eastern Northland. Gisborne on the east coast will have fairly cloudy skies and southeasterly winds, chance of a light shower there at times too.
HIGHS: 24-27, 22 in Gisborne

Lower North Island

Mostly sunny weather out west with afternoon sea breezes. Sunny in Wellington with northerlies, northeasterlies for Wairarapa with mostly sunny skies although there may be some cloud morning and night. Cloudy periods for Hawkes Bay with easterlies, chance of a light drizzle patch or two also mainly in the ranges.

Upper South Island

Sunny weather for most after morning cloud clears. Expect sea breezes in coastal areas and light winds inland.
HIGHS: 23-29

Lower South Island

Sunny skies for most after morning cloud clears mainly about coastal Otago, expect areas of high cloud also. West to northwest winds about Southland and some inland areas, sea breezes for coastal Otago. Cloudy periods in Fiordland with northerlies.
HIGHS: 21-27

Warmest – Canterbury, mainly inland

Windiest – Southeasterlies about the tip of East Cape

Sunniest – Wellington

Wettest – In the ranges just behind Gisborne
