An anticyclone lies over New Zealand today bringing settled sunny weather to most.

Upper North Island

Mostly sunny and clear skies today with afternoon sea breezes, expect south to southeasterly winds about Northland. Cloudy periods in Gisborne with cool southerlies and the chance of the odd shower.
HIGHS: 23-24, 21 for Gisborne.

Lower North Island

Mostly sunny in the west with southeasterly breezes, winds tending more southerly about Wellington. Sunny with some cloud in the east with southerly winds.
HIGHS: 20-23

Upper South Island

Mostly clear and sunny with afternoon sea breezes, some cloud morning and night mainly in the east.
HIGHS: 20-23

Lower South Island

Mostly clear and sunny with afternoon sea breezes, some cloud morning and night mainly in the east and south.
HIGHS: 20-25

Warmest – Central Otago and the Waikato

Windiest – Southerlies about the east coast of the North Island from Hawkes Bay northwards then easing late afternoon and evening. Easterlies about the Canterbury coast may get a little brisk in the afternoon also.

Sunniest – Central Otago, the west coasts of the South and North Island, Nelson, also the Waikato and Auckland.

Wettest – The only wet stuff today may fall about Gisborne in the form of a few showers.
