An anticyclone moves off to the east today while TC Evan approaches far to the north of NZ. Mostly sunny weather for all today with areas of cloud about, perhaps the odd shower north of Auckland.

Upper North Island

A mix of sunny areas and some cloud with east to northeast breezes perhaps a little brisk in the afternoon and early evening north of the Waikato. The is the chance of a light shower in Northland at times especially in the east and about Coromandel. About western Northland a few showers may pop up later in the afternoon then clear in the evening.
HIGHS: 23-25, 23 in Gisborne

Lower North Island

Mostly sunny weather, some cloud possible morning and night on the east coast. Winds generally light however northeasterlies pick up a bit on the east coast during the afternoon.
HIGHS: 25-27 in the west, 23-24 on the east coast and about Wellington.

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny weather for all with afternoon sea breezes after any morning cloud clears, northeasterlies a little brisk just along the east coast. Northwesterly winds break through for most in the evening in the east.
HIGHS: 20-23 on the West Coast and in Nelson. 25-27 in Canterbury and Marlborough.

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny weather with light winds tending northeast right on the Otago coastline, northwesterly breezes pick up from morning inland and break through to the coast in the evening. Some high cloud increases during the day for all. Northerly breezes pick up about Fiordland during the day with increasing cloud from afternoon, rain develops there overnight.
HIGHS: 23-26
