A cold southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning showers clear Auckland then sunny areas increase, showers not clearing Northland till evening. Overnight a few showers move into western areas again. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty sees a mix of sun and cloud with mainly dry conditions. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-14

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas and the odd shower, long dry spells too. Light winds tend westerly in the afternoon. Breezy afternoon southwesterlies for Taranaki.
Highs: 6-12

Eastern North Island
Morning showers clear then sunny areas increase, becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. Breezy southwesterlies ease later in the day.
Highs: 10-12

Wellington
Morning showers clear then sunny areas increase, fresh southerlies ease.
High: 10-11

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds tending southwest.
Highs: 10-12

Canterbury
Morning showers clear (mainly about Christchurch / Banks Peninsula) then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies elsewhere from morning. Cool southwest winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 8-10

West Coast
Sunny with some high cloud from afternoon, a few showers about Fiordland from afternoon spreading northwards overnight. Light winds tend west to southwest in the evening.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
Cloudy with occasional showers about Southland. Otago sees a few morning showers then clearing, sunny spells break through from afternoon. There is the chance of a shower or two lingering about Otago through till evening, mainly about the coast. West to southwest winds tend northwest later in the day.
Highs: 8-10
