A cool southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas and the risk of a shower or two, some sun breaks through at times. The shower risk goes up in the afternoon for the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty then clearing later in the evening. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas, chance of a shower mainly about Taranaki in the morning. From afternoon isolated showers develop, more so about inland areas then clearing later in the evening. Light winds tend southwesterly for a time in the afternoon.
Highs: 12-14

Eastern North Island
Sunny areas, cloud thickens up in the afternoon with isolated showers developing, especially about the ranges. Showers clear overnight. Southwesterlies tend more onshore after midday.
High: 13

Wellington
Morning cloud then sunny areas increase from midday, southerlies die out in the evening.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny spells, isolated showers possible in the afternoon (mainly about the ranges) then clearing evening. Light winds tend north to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 10-13

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with light southwesterly winds, tending northeasterly in the evening. Late afternoon there is the chance of an isolated shower or two otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 10-13

West Coast
Mostly sunny, a few showers at times for Buller however especially afternoon / evening. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-14

Southland & Otago
Showers, clearing in the evening for Southland. Showers don’t reach Otago till afternoon then clear overnight. Some sun may break through at times. West to southwest winds.
Highs: 10-13
