A westerly quarter airflow lies over New Zealand today, a front passes off to the east of the South Island during the morning and another moves northwards over the North Island during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells, a few showers pass through in the afternoon. Westerly winds tend a little more southwest after midday.
Highs: 15-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Showers, clearing by evening. Some sun breaks through from afternoon. Northwesterlies tend fresh westerly by midday.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with northwesterlies tending breezy westerly early afternoon.
Highs: 15-18

Wellington
Morning cloud may bring a shower then mostly sunny from afternoon as breezy northwesterly winds tend westerly.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with westerly winds, some cloud at times about Nelson.
High: 13-15

Canterbury
Morning cloud bring the chance of a shower or spot of rain then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon, light winds tend southwesterly for a time.
Highs: 10-12

West Coast
Early rain eases to showers and increasing sunny spells, southwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas for Southland with the odd spot of rain, Otago is mostly sunny after any early spots of rain clear. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-12
