An anticyclone quickly pushes onto New Zealand today moving in from the west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with light southwesterly winds, cloud may be a little more frequent in the afternoon bringing the low risk of an isolated shower or two.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud with a few showers then sunny areas develop in the afternoon as southerly winds tend southeast.
Highs: 8-14

Eastern North Island
Southerlies and cloud about the Wairarapa pushes northwards into Hawkes Bay and Gisborne during the morning, there is the risk of a shower with this change otherwise mainly dry. Cloud breaks away later in the evening / overnight.
Highs: 10-13

Wellington
Morning cloud then mostly sunny, cool southerly winds die out late afternoon.
High: 10

Marlborough & Nelson
Cloudy areas and occasional sun, light winds tend east to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 8-11

Canterbury
Any early showers clear then becoming sunny by midday, southwesterly winds die out tending light northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 8-10

West Coast
Early showers clear North Westland, some sun breaks through in the afternoon. Mostly sunny about South Westland with cloud developing there later in the evening. Light winds.
Highs: 8-11

Southland & Otago
Any morning cloud breaks away then sunny, light winds inland. Coastal westerlies ease.
Highs: 6-10
