Sunny over the North Island today with light winds after morning frosts, some cloud about the coast between Kapiti and western Waikato during the day. Any morning cloud or showers about Gisborne clears to a sunny day, southwesterly winds die out on the east coast in the afternoon.

Sunny over the South Island also, light winds along the east coast tend northeasterly. Cloudy or becoming cloudy on the West Coast south of Westport in the morning, drizzle patches in Fiordland spread into South Westland at times. Some high cloud lies across Southland and Otago today, westerly winds about Southland pick up during the evening.

Temperatures will be in the mid teen range over the North Island, perhaps 13 to 14 along the east coast and about Wellington and 11 to 12 in the Central North Island however. Mid teen temperatures for most of the South Island although sitting around 13 to 14 degrees on the West Coast, Southland and Central Otago.
