A ridge of high pressure slips away from the North Island today meanwhile a northerly airflow lies over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and some high cloud, areas of mid level cloud a bit thicker in some spots like Bay Of Plenty, Coromandel and perhaps eastern Northland with the chance of a shower or two. There may also be some morning fog about Auckland and the Waikato. Winds light from the north.
Highs: 19-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Plenty of high cloud, some mid level cloud at times also especially about Taranaki. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some high cloud gradually increasing, light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington
Mostly cloudy with breezy north to northwesterly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Plenty of high cloud although some sun breaks through at times, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Canterbury
Plenty of high cloud, some sun may briefly break through at times. Light winds may tend northeast near the coast in the afternoon.
Highs: 16-18

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with the odd spit or shower, some rain moves into South Westland during the morning then eases from afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Southland & Otago
Thick high cloud, a few spots of rain possible in the afternoon / evening. Light northerly winds.
Highs: 13-16
