A ridge moves in today bringing a more settled looking picture, however there is still some cloud and a few showers about the North Island to gradually clear away.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud with west to southwesterly winds, chance of a morning shower. The Bay Of Plenty is mostly sunny.
Highs: 16-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A shower or two, clearing early afternoon then areas of sun increase. West to southwesterly winds, breezy about the Taranaki coast.
Highs: 12-16

Eastern North Island
Areas of cloud, sun breaking through at times. Risk of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Wellington

Early showers clear then becoming mainly sunny, southerlies ease then die out by evening.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning cloud clears then becoming mostly sunny, light winds tend north to northeasterly in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury
Mainly sunny, afternoon east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

West Coast
Mostly sunny, some morning cloud breaks away from about Greymouth northwards. Evening cloud about South Westland then some overnight rain or perhaps more towards dawn on Friday. North to northwesterly winds develop
Highs: 15-17

Southland & Otago
Sunny after any coastal morning cloud clears, westerlies tend east to northeast late afternoon. Light winds inland with a light frost possible to start the day.
Highs: 14-20
