A weak area of low pressure lies over New Zealand today, the odd shower about the upper North Island due to a weak frontal feature.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas, a few showers may pass through in the afternoon especially about the Bay Of Plenty where one or two could become heavy then clearing later in the evening. Westerly winds. Sunny spells for Northland with afternoon sea breezes.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, light winds tend westerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-20

Eastern North Island

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, afternoon easterly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Wellington

A mix of sun and cloud with light variable winds.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly cloudy about Marlborough although some sun may break through at times, easterly winds. Nelson has a mainly sunny day, light winds tend northerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 18

Canterbury

Cloudy areas although some sun may break through in the afternoon, a few showers develop about South Canterbury in the evening then spread elsewhere overnight. Easterly winds.
High: 16

West Coast

Mostly sunny with light west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-20

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy about Southland and coastal Otago from midday, sunny spells otherwise. A few showers about North Otago for a time in the evening. South to southwesterly breezes.
Highs: 13-17
