A northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today meanwhile a front pivots onto South Westland this afternoon and evening moving out of the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells with light west to southwesterly winds, low risk of a light shower or two.
Highs: 17-19
 
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny spells, chance of a shower or two also otherwise mainly dry. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17
 
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny weather with west to southwesterly winds dying away in the afternoon, some high cloud possible later in the day.
Highs: 18-19
 
Wellington
Mostly sunny with northwesterly winds becoming breezy in the afternoon, cloud thickens in the evening.
High: 15
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud from afternoon, north to northwesterly winds, becoming gusty after midday about Marlborough. Overnight spots of rain.
Highs: 17-20
 
Canterbury
Mostly sunny with high cloud from afternoon, northerly winds.
Highs: 18-19
 
West Coast
Heavy rain about Fiordland slowly pushes northwards reaching North Westland later in the evening, chance of a thunderstorm with rain. Some sun in the morning about North Westland before cloud thickens. Northerly winds freshen.
Highs: 14-15
 
Southland & Otago
A few showers about Southland with northerly winds changing southerly in the afternoon. Rain sets in at night with southerly winds strengthening. Otago sees morning sun then cloud high thickens from midday, chance spot of rain late afternoon then rain moves in late evening becoming heavy overnight. Snow lowering overnight to 600m about Southland, 800 to 700m about Otago.
