A front moves off the top of the South Island this morning then moves over the North Island from west to east during the day. Meanwhile a southerly change pushes northwards especially along the South Island’s east coast bringing a cool change and showers.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Rain with heavy falls at times, clearing late afternoon or evening as strong northeasterly winds change lighter west to southwest. Rain may linger about the Bay Of Plenty overnight however it does gradually ease.
Highs: 23-25
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Rain with heavy falls (especially about Taranaki and the Central North Island) then easing to showers around midday as gusty northeasterly winds tend westerly. Rain may not ease about the Central North Island till mid or late afternoon. Winds change southerly later in the evening with showers clearing overnight.
Highs: 21-24
Eastern North Island
Cloudy skies, rain (possibly heavy at times) south of about Napier pushes northwards in the afternoon. Winds fairly breezy from the north or northeast. Rain easing to showers overnight as a southerly change moves in.
Rain, clearing around midday. Remaining cloudy then in the evening expect showers as northerly winds change gusty southerly.

Marlborough & Nelson
Rain, heavy at first. Rain clearing away by midday then expect dry weather with high cloud. In the evening winds change southerly bringing a period of showers.
Morning rain clears away, dry for a time then showers again mid to late afternoon possibly heavy in isolated spots as a southerly change pushes in.
Morning rain eases then clears away with sunny areas developing, a few further showers may move through in the evening. Northerlies change Sou’West by midday.

Southland & Otago
Showers ease then clear in the afternoon, cloud breaks late afternoon or evening letting in some late sun. Cool south to southwesterly breezes.
Highs: 15-19
