A breezy southeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today with showers or rain for many eastern regions. A small low also brings rain or showers to the north of the country, the place to be is the West Coast of the South Island with mainly sunny conditions expected.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and increasing cloud for Northland, the odd shower from afternoon. Auckland southwards sees mainly cloudy skies with the odd shower from morning possibly becoming heavier in the afternoon. Light winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Areas of cloud with spells of rain nearer the ranges to the east, drier nearer the coast. Winds fairly gusty from the southeast.
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with rain, possibly heavy. Breezy southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington

The odd shower or drizzle patch, mainly morning. Breezy Sou’Easterly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Cloudy about Marlborough with patchy drizzle for much of the day, Nelson is mainly dry with a few sunny areas in the afternoon. Brisk to strong east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Canterbury

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, easing after midday. Sou’Easterly winds.
High: 12

West Coast

Mainly sunny with breezy southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17

Southland & Otago

Morning cloud clears to mainly sunny weather about Southland and Inland Otago, coastal Otago sees drizzle in the morning then clearing with sunny areas breaking though after midday. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-15
