Strong northwesterlies for the South Island and parts of the lower North Island today, dry for eastern regions and warm. The West Coast of the South Island is mostly cloudy with rain or showers. Western parts of the North Island are mainly dry although Taranaki and Kapiti may see the odd shower.

Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny after some morning cloud clears, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-19

Bay Of Plenty

Some morning cloud clears to a sunny afternoon, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Waikato & Central North Island

Morning cloudy areas with the chance of a shower or two then sunny spells
increase in the afternoon, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Eastern North Island

Morning high cloud breaks to a sunny afternoon with warm temperatures, any
early morning spots of rain clear. Northwesterly breezes.
Highs: 19-20

Taranaki

Mostly cloudy with northwesterly winds, the odd shower at times especially
in the north.
High: 16

Western North Island

Cloudy areas with northwesterly winds, chance of a shower at times (mainly
afternoon) otherwise dry.
High: 17

Wellington

Strong northwesterly winds, risk of gales at times from afternoon. Mostly
cloudy skies with the odd spot of rain possible (mainly afternoon) otherwise
dry.
Highs: 14-15

Nelson

Cloudy spells with northerly winds.

Marlborough

Morning high cloud clears to a mostly sunny day, expect gusty north to
northwesterly winds strong at times about inland areas.

Canterbury

West Coast

Heavy rain about South Westland with showers further north, rain
eases a little about South Westland in the afternoon. Brisk northwesterly winds.

Coastal Otago

Morning high cloud with a few spots of rain possible, becoming mostly sunny
in the afternoon. Gusty northwesterly winds.
High: 16

Central Otago

Morning rain, heavy west of the Southern Lakes area then easing around
midday to the odd shower. For most in the east showers clear PM with a few sunny
areas breaking through. Expect gusty northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-12

Southland

Morning rain, clearing around midday then sunny spells increase. Brisk
northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15
