An anticyclone moves over the country today bringing mainly settled weather, southerlies and showers still easing about the east of the North Island then clearing. Cold overnight in some inland areas.

Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny with southerlies in the morning then tilting more to the southwest in the afternoon, winds a little breezy at times after midday. Sunny for Northland all day with southerly winds for the majority of the day.
Highs: 23-24

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny with southerly breezes, easing in the evening and dying out
overnight. The Bay Of Plenty sees southwesterly winds tending northerly mid to
late afternoon, sunny and clear skies.
Highs: 22-25

Eastern North Island

Morning cloud clears about the Wairarapa to a mostly sunny afternoon, about
Hawkes Bay and Gisborne the odd morning shower clears then sunny breaks increase
after midday till skies are clear in the evening. Breezy southerlies die out
overnight.
Highs: 19-22

Western North Island

Any early cloud clears to mostly sunny weather, southerlies ease tending
westerly later in the afternoon. Light winds overnight with cool temperatures
for inland areas. Sunny about northern Taranaki with breezy southerlies tending
southwest later in the afternoon.
Highs: 22

Wellington

Any early showers clear then sunny spells increase, mostly sunny by
afternoon. Southerlies ease dying out by late afternoon.
High: 18

Nelson

Sunny with light winds at first, afternoon northerlies.
High: 21

Marlborough

Sunny with light southerlies dying out in the morning, afternoon easterly
breezes.
Highs: 20-22

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, light winds at first then
afternoon easterlies. Some evening cloud possible about South Canterbury with
winds tending southerly there in the evening.
High: 19-21

West Coast

Sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 18-19

Coastal Otago

Sunny spells in the morning, light winds tend southeasterly in the
afternoon bringing in cloudy periods.
Highs: 17-18

Central Otago

Sunny spells and some cloud, light winds tend southwest in the
afternoon.
Highs: 22-23

Southland

Sunny spells and periods of cloud with west to southwest breezes, cloud
thickens overnight with the chance of some drizzle moving in.
Highs: 17-18
