An anticyclone starts to weaken over the country today ahead of a front approaching the South Island from the southwest. Most places will have a good day with rain moving into the far south from evening.
Northland
Mainly sunny conditions with southeasterly breezes. Some cloud at times along the eastern coastline with the low risk of a brief early morning shower, any of which clear.
Mostly sunny with light winds in the morning then afternoon sea breezes, a
few clouds wafting about during the day.

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with light winds. The Bay Of Plenty sees afternoon northerly breezes
(a sea breeze). Chance of a fog patch at night for inland areas.
Highs: 25-28
Eastern North Island
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, east to northeast breezes. Chance of
an early drizzle patch in the morning otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 23-24
Western North Island
Sunny with light winds in the morning, tending westerly in the afternoon.
Warmest temperatures inland.
Sunny with northerly winds, picking up in the afternoon. Overnight cloud
develops.
Sunny with light winds at first then afternoon northerlies.
Sunny with light winds at first, northerlies increase in the afternoon.
Late evening high cloud.
Sunny with northwesterlies inland and northeasterlies near the coast,
northwesterlies push through to the coast later in the evening. Some high cloud
increases from late afternoon.
Sunny with some cloud, westerly breezes. Cloudy about Fiordland with rain
moving in during the afternoon, cloud increases from late afternoon or evening
further north then rain moves in towards dawn on Friday.

Coastal Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, increasing late afternoon. North to
northeasterly breezes. Overnight winds change southwest with some rain.
Highs: 22-23
Southland & Central Otago
Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud and north to northwesterly winds,
rain develops in the evening with a southwest change. Rain moves into Central
Otago just after midnight with southwesterlies.
Highs: 21-23
