Thursday’s Main Centre Outlook – What’s in store for our urban hubs

> From the WeatherWatch archives

We’re about to see a settling down for most parts of the country on Thursday, with rain or showers for a few areas but mostly calm and settled conditions otherwise.

A southwesterly airflow replaces the northerly quarter winds of the last few days, meaning a bit of a variation for the South Island in particular.

Auckland

If there is any early rain it should clear before most Aucklanders are awake – to be replaced by sunny conditions and gentle southwesterlies and temperatures in the mid to high teens. Beauty.

Wellington

The capital should stay sunny after fresh conditions overnight, with northwesterlies winds turning to the south after lunch, and temperatures firmly in the mid teens.

Christchurch

The Garden City starts off cloudy and cool, with showers in inland Canterbury spreading towards the coast and affecting the city in the afternoon – though these should be intermittent and passing.
