An anticyclone brings mainly settled conditions to the North Island tonight although northerlies will be gusty about Wellington. In the South Island an approaching front from the southern Tasman Sea causes northwesterlies to build, expect high cloud out east with showers in the west.

Mainly clear skies with west to southwest winds easing this evening, light winds overnight.

Mainly clear skies overnight, there may be a few clouds about. Westerly winds.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Mainly clear about the Bay Of Plenty overnight, some cloud in other areas with westerly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-10

Eastern North Island
Mainly clear skies, westerly winds easing later this evening. Light winds overnight. About Wairarapa expect westerlies to keep pushing through.

Western North Island
Clear with some cloud, gusty westerly winds ease later this evening. Cloud builds overnight about northern Taranaki and Kapiti.

Wellington
Mainly clear overnight with some cloud possible, gusty northerly winds.
Tonight’s Low: 13

Nelson
Clear spells and some cloud with westerly winds easing this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Marlborough
West to northwest winds ease a little this evening but still fairly breezy overnight, clear with some high cloud.

Canterbury
High cloud with north to northwest breezes, gusty in inland areas.

West Coast
Periods of rain or showers with northerly winds, rain becoming heavy tomorrow morning.

Coastal Otago
High cloud with north to northwestely winds, a bit breezy at times. Winds change southwest tomorrow morning with rain.

Southland & Central Otago
Strong northwesterlies with some high cloud, overnight some rain develops with a westerly change.
