A northerly airflow gradually picks up for most of the country tonight as a front heads towards western areas from the Tasman Sea. Expect high cloud increasing out east and general cloud increasing out west, showers develop for the west of the South Island too and for some other areas by dawn.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Skies becoming mainly cloudy tonight north of the Bay Of Plenty, winds from the northeast. There may also be a light shower at times mainly on eastern coastlines. Clear spells towards the Waikato and Central North Island where some fog may form then later in the night general cloud develops.
Lows tonight: 7-14

Eastern North Island
Mainly clear with some cloud, some high cloud about Wairarapa. Winds generally light from the north or northeast.
Lows tonight: 8-9

Western North Island
Mainly clear with some cloud developing through the night. Norherly breezes. Chance of a shower about Taranaki by dawn.
Low tonight: 9-10

Wellington
Cloudy with northerly breezes.
Low tonight: 13

Nelson
Becoming cloudy, light northerlies. The odd drizzle patch by dawn.
Lows tonight: 11-12

Marlborough
High cloud increasing tonight, northerly breezes. There may be a spot of rain by dawn.
Lows tonight: 9-10

Canterbury
Thick high cloud with light northeasterly breezes, low cloud gradually clearing away nearer the coast.
Lows tonight: 7-8

West Coast
Cloudy with showers developing tonight, northeasterly breezes.
Lows tonight: 11-12

Southland & Otago
Northerly breezes with thick high cloud, chance of a shower during the night for Southland.
Lows tonight: 7-9
