Thunderstorms & torrential Thursday night

A band of thunderstorms, some with hail and downpours potentially heavy enough to cause surface and flash flooding, are moving down the west coast of the North Island and into the upper South Island this evening.

As of 8:29pm regions that are exposed are western Waikato, Waitomo, Taranaki and coastal Marlborough.
