Thunderstorms popping up over Waikato

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Following a humid start to the day sunny skies and afternoon heating have lead to a few thunderstorms popping up over Waikato this evening.

Readers on WeatherWatch.co.nz’s Facebook page have reported thunder in Hamilton, Otorohanga and Cambridge.

New Zealand’s only free and live Lightning Tracker has detected some activity around the Waikato region and some eastern ranges over the past hour, clocking up about 100 lightning strikes in 60 minutes.
