The low which is to develop in the Tasman Sea this weekend is looking to be quite active, with it brings the risk of thunderstorms especially for the West Coasts of both Islands. I love thunderstorms and it is what got me into the weather in the first place, just can’t beat a good thunderstorm.
There is a risk of storms on the West Coast of the South Island later today then later on Monday / early Tuesday a risk presents itself again in western areas of both Islands north of the glaciers as the flow changes to the west.
Thunderstorms look to rear their head again early on Wednesday however only for North Islanders, from Taranaki through to Northland. This time bringing the possibility of hail as very cold unstable air moves over the area.
Get ready for some action packed weather, we look forward to the reports that will come in between now and mid next week from you all.

I see the lightning tracker is still not working. Is it going to be fixed?, as I enjoy watching where all the action is
Cheers

Living in Browns Bay, Auckland I’m not going to get my hopes up for any thunder; it’s so rare these days (especially around here). But it would be good if we get some!.

Yes in Auckland maybe lucky to get to one or two rumbles over an hour if lucky prior to another week long SW event.
