WeatherWatch.co.nz facebook readers are reporting hail and thunder is falling in Blenheim and other parts of North Canterbury and Hurunui districts have had rumbles of thunder with rain moving in this afternoon.
Parts of the North Island have also seen a few showers with some heavy falls today but also long sunny breaks as well.
Temperatures are expected to drop tonight in the south with a relatively cool start to the weekend tomorrow.
