If you did – you were right! In the past hour it was just 4 degrees in west Auckland and the Coromandel Peninsula, only 1 in Hamilton, 3 in Whakatane, 2 in Rotorua, -1 in Taupo, 0 in Palmerston North, Napier and Hastings, -2 in some inland Hawkes Bay areas, 3 in New Plymouth and 2 in Levin.
It was a mild 9 in Wellington and Dunedin with 3 in Christchurch and Timaru.
Head weather analyst Philip Duncan says the cold was due to a brief southerly that moved through during the weekend bringing a light dusting of snow to low levels in Southland, Otago and Canterbury.
Mr Duncan says a warm wind flow will bump up temperatures overnight tonight.

Dont mind that type of cold at night,Ideally I like large durnial extremes,ie 3° to 25° would be interesting. Its kinda boring when its 9° to 15° or 16° every day.
