The East Coast was the focal point today as very cool southerlies spread north bringing showers along the mainland, across into the Wellington region and then from Masterton to Gisborne, with also some heavy showers reported.
Tonight temperatures will be about average across much of the country, if not a little cooler, and tomorrow a similar story is likely with average to below average temperatures expected.
The top temperature today was 25 degrees in Kaitaia and Cantabrians shivered with Culverden and Darfield on 11, closely followed by Ashburton and Gore in Eastern Southland on 12.

At this time in New Plymouth I have the temperature at 22 deg. Wind is light air, not more than about 2 knots with the trees barely moving at times. Heavy high overcast. No precipitation at present.
