Temperatures remained fairly steady across much of the North Island today as winds picked up whereas the mainland was more settled with warm conditions in many areas.
The weather is expected to be windy and wet in central and northern areas of the North Island tonight but temperatures will only drop to around 20 degrees.Further south it should remain mostly dry with cloud thickening this evening and overnight.
It looks like a damp Friday for all of New Zealand at some stage with the west and north expecting the heaviest falls.Winds will be strong in northern and central regions but again temperatures should remain average or above.
The maximum today was Alexandra with 28 degrees and the low was Lake Rotoiti and Waiouru with 18 degrees.
