Today rain fell over the southern half of the South Island with some moderate to heavy falls causing some surface flooding in parts of South Canterbury and North Otago.
The North Island and Nelson and Marlborough saw some sunshine and temperatures generally above average especially in the east and north of the North Island.
Tonight, a mild night is in store for those regions with mainly clear conditions lasting through until tomorrow apart from the chance of a shower, while the deep south sees further rain tonight and tomorrow morning.
Hastings had the national high today of 32 degrees, closely followed by Napier on 31 and the low went to Gore with only 10 degrees.

Well on Friday till 7pm we had 42mm of rain from that system… Slighty below what i thought lol….
Today we had a high of 27.9c..
Any idea when its going to cool down for good??? Would love a return to some 10c or below nights…..

I think there will be a gradual cooling over the next few evenings as the winds tens more west and then southwest (hopefully anyway!!)
