Today rain fell in northern areas and hung around for some time, accompanied by cool temperatures and overall, temperatures were again on the chilly side for the country.

Tonight another cool one is expected in many areas but tomorrow more sunshine is likely in eastern and northern regions.

Some cloud builds in a few western and southern areas with a possible shower over the far south of the mainland and in the far north too.

Todays maximum was 25 degrees in Kaitaia and the low was in Oamaru and Darfield with 15 degrees
