An autumnal feel to the day for the most part with most centres taking a drop in temperature on recent days and weeks.Winds were quite strong across many regions making it ‘feel’ cooler than some readings suggested too.
Tonight, temperatures in the main should be average to a little below in some places but tomorrow, as another front starts to advance up the mainland, a strong nor’ wester ahead of it should see the mercury move into the 20s easily, especially in eastern districts in both islands.
Behind it, a much cooler pool of air could bring some thundery showers to the south and east of the mainland, with much colder temperatures and possibly a dusting of snow on higher ground inland.
The hotspot in the land today was Napier with 24 and the low was 12 in both Dunedin and Gore.
