The rain began in the far north earlier today and it’s winding its way south with the winds continuing to build.
Tonight temperatures will be relatively mild, despite the deteriorating conditions in a number of areas.
Saturday looks to be quite wild in a number of North Island areas, with strong winds and heavy rain expected to batter much of the island.

Wow the weather has packed in fast. I was on Orewa beach an hour ago with my dog, it was blustery but not raining. Now it is revolting out there. The wind gust are up to 30ks and climbing and the rain is definitly here. Still a barmy 19 degrees though.
I was wondering if there is a predition for the autunm weather? Last year was quite dry and warm so was wondering if we were heading in a similar direction.
Cheers guys. Love this site
