Rain fell heavily in places today and at one stage, more than 80% of the country was covered by the rainband this morning.
Temperatures remained muggy in the north and it was a little cool once more in the south.
Tonight the rain should continue to ease in a number of areas but cling on to southern and eastern regions, particularly in the south and through much of tomorrow as well.The West Coast of the mainland along with parts of Canterbury, Otago and Southland should see most of the rain tomorrow.
The top temperature today went to Kaitaia with 26 degrees and 13 was the lowest maximum at Dunedin Airport, Oamaru, Gore and Manapouri.
