Sunny skies over some parts of the country this morning but windy and showery in a few regions, especially in the deep south.
Temperatures are on the rise for those eastern regions affected by frost first thing this morning but it belies what is about to take shape over the next 12-24 hours.
A pool of cold and wintry air is expected to mainly affect eastern regions today, tonight and part of tomorrow from Gisborne to Bluff.
