> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s been a very cold night in some parts of the country and Waiouru has woken up to a reading of zero this morning.

Further south, Blenheim is on 3 degrees, Invercargill and Queenstown are 2 degrees and Timaru and Wanaka are also bitterly cold, with just 1 degree.

The cold air has continued into the Manawatu with Palmerston North on 5 degrees and not far down the road and Levin is also feeling the chill on 5 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to warm up with the sun shining today but in the south it will still have a cool edge to the day.

Main centre temperatures as of 8am

Auckland 15

Hamilton 10

Tauranga 13

Wellington 12

Christchurch 9

Dunedin 6

Wellington has the most unpleasant conditions of the main centres with a southerly gusting to 70kph and passing showers.

Love it and we should have it all year round. Those in the South are unhappy about the sun not coming up in the mornings about this time of year but in the middle of summer they have daylight up until 10pm ish lucky beggars.

I would really like it all year round, we would soon get used to it. We have to get up in the dark in Auckland anyway if we want to get to work on time! The bonus would be a longer evening to do the things we want to do. Most of us don’t see daylight anyway at work how great to see it for a few hours after work.
YES I am all for it.
