Less humidity in the north and cooler breezes is seeing the mercury somewhat lower than this time yesterday.

Whakatane, Kaikohe and Whangarei are the warmest spots this hour on 26 degrees with New Plymouth, Hamilton, Tauranga and Paeroa on 25. Auckland is about 6 degrees lower than 24 hours ago and on 22 degrees.

Cool conditions are prevailing over the mainland with Nelson the warmest centre on an ordinary 21 degrees.

No rainfall has been recorded anywhere over the country during the last 2 hours.

Funny that – I recorded a max of 26.7 yesterday in Howick, and today’s max is 26.6. The lower humidity has certainly made a difference in the perceived temperature though!
