Temps cut in half

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Dunedin managed 27 degrees this morning with a very warm nor’ wester but now a strong sou’ wester has hit the city and it’s plummeted to 13 degrees.

Ahead of the cool change, temperatures are certainly high in eastern areas as the rain continues to tumble in the west. Oamaru is now 29 degrees which is rather impressive before midday, during the month of November.

Main centres

Auckland 20

Hamilton 17

Tauranga 21

Wellington 15

Christchurch 24

Dunedin 13

Temperature cut in half?Do the readings stop at the freezing point of water? Where does that come from,0c isnt absolute 0.

Fair comment – although in NZ it’s generally assumed that in November zero would probably be as cold as it gets.  While not ‘technically’ not correct the public would ‘get’ the jist of the headline.
