There’s a big range with temperatures this morning as windy conditions remain in the north and calm, clear, skies greet those in the east.
Across northern New Zealand most places are between 10 and 13 degrees this morning, from about Tauranga northwards. In Hawkes Bay temperatures have dropped to zero with -1 inland.
In the South Island at sunrise Kaikoura was on 10 but just down the road in Christchurch it was 2 and further south -1 in Timaru. But thick cloud cover kept Wanaka on 7 and a north east breeze kept Invercargill on the same temperature.
Today will see similar weather conditions right across New Zealand as yesterday with a large high to the east and lows to the west.

Actually I need to modify my last comment in that we now have some quite large areas of blue sky around but the sun is being blocked by the greyer stuff. Much more pleasant.

Whangarei this morning was definatly warmer due to less wind being around which brought very cold days and winter like conditions. It is overcast grey with the odd bit of sun poking through now and then but a very much better day than the last few. Odd showers passing through as well.
Can take this a lot better than the recent windy weather which made conditions very unpleasant so I am hoping the wind strength does not increase again.
